Abt Associates seeks a Senior IRS Advisor / Entomologist for a USAID-funded Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) project. Based in Lilongwe, the Senior IRS Advisor / Entomologist provides technical leadership and guidance to Malawi IRS project on programmatic and scientific issues in support of Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) campaigns, the expansion of the IRS campaign into new districts, and research and monitoring and evaluation activities related to the implementation of the project. This positionwill provide greater focus on monitoring the impact of the IRS project on malaria in the country, examining resistance to insecticides and general entomological issues concerning the IRS campaigns.

Requirements
• Masters Degree (minimum), or a Doctoral Degree (preferred), in Medical entomology, Epidemiology, Biology or other relevant related discipline.
• Masters Degree (10 – 15) years of experience OR Doctorate (8 – 10) years of experience working in development assistance projects in malaria control programs, specifically in integrated vector control and IRS, focusing on entomological issues is a plus.
• Additional training or experience in tropical medicine, malariology, or parasitology.
• Knowledge and experience of applied research, and proven record of accomplishment in documenting project experiences and publishing the information in national, regional, and international formats.
• Highly effective management skills to assure timely, well-coordinated implementation.
• Ability to provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to large, complex programs.
• Fluency in English, knowledge of Chichewa is a definite advantage.
