Curriculum Developer - I-TECH South Africa
Background Information/Context of Position: The International Training and Education Center on HIV (I-TECH) supports the development of HIV/AIDS care and treatment training initiatives which serve health care providers in 25 developing countries acutely impacted by the global AIDS epidemic. I-TECH South Africa (SA) provides technical assistance to SA Health Promotion and Quality Assurance (HPQA) Centers to increase human and institutional capacity to educate/mentor health care professionals (i.e., doctors, nurses, pharmacists) on the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STI), and tuberculosis (TB) (HAST). I-TECH SA is also working with SA academic institutions to develop and implement HIV/AIDS, STI and TB training modules and curricula supporting career paths in HIV and AIDS.
Position Overview:
The Curriculum Developer, a member of the I-TECH Training Development Team (TDT), will work closely with technical staff (TDT, Clinical Team, and Quality Improvement Team), I-TECH in-country staff, and the South Africa Project Manager to provide training and technical assistance to our in-country partners and clients in support of curriculum-related projects in South Africa. The person in this position will develop complex curricula and training materials in English for use in the South African context. Through coordination with consultants and collaborators, the Curriculum Developer will ensure consistency, timeliness and high standards in these efforts. In South Africa, I-TECH is currently developing many HIV-related training materials including a five course HAST integrated training package with the Mpumalanga Regional Training Center. I-TECH South Africa is also developing Teaching Methodology, Training Coordination, Monitoring & Evaluation, Pre-Service curricula and Faculty Development of Pre-Service Tutors. Additional topics will be added as our scope of work increases. The Curriculum Developer reports to the Director of Programs in South Africa, and is expected to work closely with the TDT Project Manager at I-TECH headquarters in Seattle. This is a full time permanent position based in Pretoria.
